Cultural Tour through the Sacred Valley

  • Book Now

This trek begins with a visit to the Awana Cancha Weaving Centre. The work of over twelve Andean communities is brought here for exhibition, and the craftsmanship is remarkable. Tourists will have the opportunity to view the traditional weavers in action and observe how the native women use alpaca, llama, vicuna, and guanaco wool to create their authentic products. Guests will also have the chance to pet all the different cameloids that are utilized for wool production that graze nearby.
From the Weaving Centre, the tour will head twenty minutes to the Winaypaq Bilingual School, which is an initiative based on learning in Spanish and Quechua, offered to children in elementary or primary school completely free of charge. Many of the students hail from upper-Andean communities and mainly speak Quechua, while others from more urban regions speak Spanish has their primary language. The staff is aptly integrated to cater to all the students' needs and this is an interesting programme to witness.
The tour will then move on to the market of Pisac, which is famous for its varied selection of high quality goods. This is the ideal place to purchase some much needed souvenirs for the family at home, and a great way to help the local community!
Lunch will be served in a gorgeous restaurant in the Urubamba open air.
Next, the caravan will continue further into the valley to gawk at the awe-inspiring Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo that were built to protect the Incas from outsider entrance from the Urubamba Valley.
This will conclude our full day and the tour will return back to Cusco.
