With the sun burning very intense in Cusco, a logical step would be to use this energy efficiently. Hotel Eco Inn has solar panels to capture this energy and uses it for the hot water supply in the hotel. The level of energy used in the hotel is low mainly because of the card system clients use when entering and leaving their room. The light switches on and off automatically when the clients enter or leave their room respectively by use of this card system, which conserves energy.

To minimize the water use in the hotel they inform their clients of the importance of water. In every room clients can put their towels and sheets on a special place if they want them to be washed. If it's not necessary to wash the towels and sheets, people can leave these in different places.

Waste is collected and separated. In the lobby clients have different waste bins where they can separate their waste. All the people working in the hotel are from Cusco and all the products used come, when possible, from Cusco.

The shampoo and soap being used are made from natural products and don't have any chemicals. The only chemicals being used are in the items for the cleaning, but in order to use these, employees get a trained so they know exactly how to minimise use.
