Soft Adventure Tour through the Sacred Valley
Duration:
1 day(s) - Location:
Guest's Hotel
This adventure will start with the observation of the interesting Inca ruins at Moray, which resemble an amphitheatre in the way the circular terrances decrease in size as they descend. Guests are allowed to meander down through the terracing, walking down stone stairs, to gain an upward view with all the stone walls and sky above.
Next, the group will visit the town of Maras, located on a plain above the Sacred Valley. From here, it is possible to view the snow- capped peaks of the Urabamba Mountain Range and the famous "salt works." These "salt works" are composed of some 3,000 small pools built into the side of the "Qaqawiñay" Mountain that are filled with salt water every few days, allowing for the water to evaporate and leaving behind dry salt for harvesting. The sight seems like something almost out of this world!
Lunch will be had in the majestic Urubamba Valley.
The tour will then continue on to the ruins of Ollantaytambo. During the time of the Inca Empire this town was once the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti, who conquered the region. The town is quaint, the terracing is impressive and the history is significant; all making for a most enjoyable visit in the highlands of the Sacred Valley.
This will conclude the tour and the group will return to Cusco.
