In Inca times the building was the Aqllawasi (House of Chosen Women, or Virgins of the Sun.), during colonial times was built the Monastery and convent of Santa Catalina, and currently Dominician nuns manage a Museum and Hostal Santa Maria, always taking care of children and poor people.
